At Kettering Church we find an increasing number of people are interested in working more directly on their spiritual development. We believe all have the potential to develop spiritually and we encourage our students to start their journey along a pathway of discovery in communicating with the spirit world, and to find and develop their individual talents. Our Circles teach the difference between spirit communication and psychic links and sometimes use psychic exercises to help the student recognise the different types of link. A pure psychic will link in with a person's energies / aura and give a reading at this level, while some psychics are able to read along the timeline of a person's life to access events (or possible eventualities) in the future. A spiritual medium will link with a communicator in the spirit world and give information about the communicator using clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing) and clairsentience (clear feeling / sensing). A medium will often use a combination of all three senses to pick up information, but it can vary each time as results will depend on the method the communicator uses to get their message across and how strongly developed the medium is sense. It is the spirit communicator that provides the information about themselves, their lives and the life of the recipient of the message.
Our Development Circles are 'closed', which means that to join one you must fill in a Circle Application Form and your application approved by the church committee prior to you joining a circle. After completing the form, our circle tutors will have a chat to assess your current spiritual knowledge and level of development and once approved we will try to get you into the circle most suited to your needs. You may have to wait to enter a Circle as we sometimes have a waiting list, but we try to place you as soon as possible. For those uncertain about wanting to join a Circle or needing more information, please talk to one of our circle leads or any committee member, and we will try our best to answer any questions you have.
Our circles start with a beginner’s level circle. This is used to assess ability and identify in which direction people would like to develop their gift, and to provide training in recognising and managing your gift. The beginner's circle works at a gentle pace, concentrating on the ability to work safely and to blend with each other and with spirit. The intermediate and advanced circles then focus on personal development and help identify which area of spiritual development your gift is best suited to follow then working with you to attain the level of development you want to attain. This may be to become a platform medium if that is the path spirit wish you to follow, it may be to develop and strengthen a healing gift, or to follow other spiritual pathways such as spiritual art or writing. The role of all our circles is to help you develop the bond between yourself and your spirit guides so the work you do together will be the highest and the best.
For those students who wish to concentrate on developing mediumship skills, the training will focus on developing prayers, philosophy and mediumship to a standard where they can go out and work in other churches. There are opportunities for students who reach the required level to go out with working mediums. Our aim is to produce the highest quality mediums possible.
Placement of students is at the discretion and agreement of the circle leaders. Our beginners circle and one intermediate circle are held in the church on alternate Tuesday afternoons, the second intermediate circles are held on alternate Tuesday afternoons and on Thursday evenings. The advanced circle is held on alternate Wednesday evenings. Attendance for all circles held in church costs £3 per session.
Kettering Church prides itself on its training in all aspects of Spiritualism and whilst we accept that not every student will want to become a working medium, we teach all students to approach their work with spirit with sincerity and professionalism. Our Circle members become very supportive of each other and whilst we do make sure everyone works hard, our Circles are friendly and uplifting gatherings of like-minded people.
